CMSC Students Win Big "MOCK" Trial
Center Street Middle School participated in the 2009 Annual Law Day Program presented by Birmingham School of Law, Black Law Students Association and the Birmingham Law Association Community Education Committee on May 1, 2009.
This year's theme for Law Day was: A Legacy of Liberty - Celebrating Abraham Lincoln's Bicentennial.
Students from Center Street Middle School were challenged by students from Holy Family Catholic Elementary School (K-8) in the mock trial of the "Big Bad Wolf and the Three Little Pigs". Students from Center Street Middle School had to prove the innocence of Curly Pig. The trial was held in the courtroom of Judge Jack Lowther, District Court Judge. Congressman Artur Davis was in attendance to encourage both schools.
The enactment of the trial took about thirty minutes. The students were awesome in their presentation. Center Street Middle School emerged from the trial of victors with the verdict of Not Guilty, but all the students were winners.
